The Fire Ant Dance

sale-fire-antsA Crazy Sunday MorningDoes it ever seem to you that a lot of things seem to go wrong as you are getting ready for church on Sunday morning?  Boy did I have a “lively” time this morning.  Yikes!

I thought my skirt was on fire!     I was on target – even early – this morning with a lot of energy and looking forward to church….until I put on my skirt.  And then — I thought my skirt must have been on fire because my body sure was!  Owwww!  Owww!  Owwww!

The Fire Ant Dance!   I charged out the back door and well ummm – did the only thing that made sense at the time –  I umm  - de- skirted on the back porch.  (It’s a good thing we live in the country!!!)  I looked down at my skirt and it was covered in FIRE ANTS!  My, oh my!  I tried to fling off the little critters, but they held on tightly – so I had to pick them off one by one…which took a while.

Finally I thought I had them all, but decided it would be wise not to wear that skirt as I didn’t want to make a scene in church if I missed one or two of them…LOL!

It turns out that ants are attracted to 100% cotton – which my skirt lining was made of.  I’m just really glad not to have done the “Fire Ant Dance” in church — which we finally got to attend.

The end — at least it was the end to those ants.  Now I need to find their cousins….

Proverbs 30:25

Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;

    PUT A MOTHBALL ON THE OPENING OF AN ANT BED, PUSH IT DOWN WITH YOUR FOOT, THEN SLOWLY POUR 2 CUPS OF WATER OVER THE MOTHBALL. THE CHEMICALS WILL KILL THEM.

    IF YOU GET STUNG BY FIRE ANTS, WASH THE AREA WITH APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.

      Hi Shea! Love the apple cider vinegar idea! I will try it because I have been stung lots and predict a little more stinging before this battle is over. Your video link did not work, but I will search for it on you tube! Thanks so much! Appreciate your advice!

    I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY USED “20 MULE TEAM BORAX” TO FOIL ANTS. I USE A SMALL FUNNEL TO FILL THE HOLE AND SPRINKLE HEAVILY ON TOP OF ANT BED.

    ALSO, BORAX IS REALLY GOOD FOR YOUR LAUNDRY. I USE IT INSTEAD OF BLEACH FOR MY WHITE LOADS. YOU CAN PUT A SMALL AMOUNT IN EVERY LOAD (EXCEPT DARKS). BESIDES ITS BLEACHING PROPERTY, IT KEEPS DETERGENT FROM STICKING TO YOUR CLOTHES = YOUR CLOTHES WILL RINSE CLEAN. THE GREYING YOU SEE ON YOUR CLOTHES IS PROBABLY DETERGENT THAT COULD NOT BE COMPLETELY RINSED OUT.

      Wow! What awesome info! I’m going to the store tomorrow. Will try and get some “20 mule team borax!” I try it on the ants and my clothes too! Hopefully the ants WON’T be happy but my clothes will be! Thank you so much for your info! Woo Hoo!
